Biography
Richard Elder is a principal with Wulfsberg Reese Colvig & Firstman practicing construction law and commercial litigation. He represents design-build, engineering and construction firms as well as contractors, manufacturers, property owners and public entities in construction claims involving delay, defective design and engineering, unforeseen site conditions and breach of warranty.
Prior to joining Wulfsberg Reese Colvig & Firstman, Mr. Elder practiced at Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker in San Francisco representing manufacturers and technology companies in trade secret, class action and other complex commercial litigation matters including a published decision enforcing an arbitration provision and class waiver in a consumer adhesion contract. He also has extensive experience representing manufacturers in product liability, environmental and toxic tort matters.
Mr. Elder received his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1999 and his B.A. in History (with College Honors) from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1996. He is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before all federal and state courts in California including the Ninth Circuit.
Professional Experience
Mr. Elder has represented design-build, engineering and construction firms in litigation arising out of significant power plant and pipeline terminal projects. He has also represented property owners and public entities in construction claims involving delay, defective design and engineering, and breach of warranty in projects ranging from water treatment facilities to multifamily residential projects to performing arts centers.
